This three (3) day course is designed to build upon the skills learned in the Basic Rifle Operator Course and to introduce more advanced techniques. Topics of instruction include shooting on the move, natural and unorthodox shooting positions, individual and team live fire exercises, high speed shooting drills, multiple threat assessment and engaging, strong and support side shooting, clearing malfunctions, shooting from cover and vehicles, and low light operations.
NOTE: All Firearms Courses at the Camden County College Police Academy require participation in physical activities such as light running, sit-ups, push-up, etc. Registration is limited to students capable of full participation.

This one (1) day course is designed to prepare officers to instruct the Attorney General’s mandatory semi-annual training within their own departments. Each session will include a thorough review of all relevant updates on the law for the past year, including case law, statutes, Attorney General Directives and Guidelines, and county policies. In addition, the course will cover the most recent review of both the law and practice of high-speed motor vehicle pursuits and the use of deadly force. The Domestic Violence segment of the course will cover the basic legal responsibilities of officers responding to a DV calls, updates on the relevant law, as well as a discussion of recommended investigative techniques in the handling of DV cases.

Participants will attend a half-day training session on the Attorney General’s Revised Conducted Energy Device (CED) Use of Force Policy. Attendance is MANDATORY for CED Instructors to instruct new CED Operators (Countywide) and/or requalify existing CED Operators (Agency Requalification Instructors).
**Note that an officer may only be a CED Instructor with the approval and designation of the County Prosecutor’s Office or State Police Superintendent. CED Instructors who attended this course in 2023 are not required to attend again until 2025.

This five (5) day course is designated to give the operator the basic working knowledge and skill to safely deploy in a designated marksman role and learn the basics of the sniper rifle. It is designed to prepare law enforcement snipers for emergency response operations and surveillance operations that would require observation and concealment techniques. This course also provides instruction in rifles, scopes and other equipment related to the law enforcement sniper along with marksmanship techniques, the use, care and cleaning of equipment, data book, effects of weather, and marksmanship exercises.

This two (2) day course is designed to build a base of operation for the new patrol rifle operator. The course will give the operator a fundamental understanding of topics relevant to the handling of the patrol service rifle. Topics of instruction include gear and placement, iron sights, optics and accessories, proper shooting stance, proper grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, strong and support hand shooting, recoil control shooting positions, clearing malfunction, and tactical and combat reloads.

The Police canine (K-9) specialty dog training encompasses police dog obedience, agility, socialization and scent work in a particular specialty field. Specialty fields include narcotics detection, explosive detection, arson investigation, tracking and cadaver detection. Police handler training encompasses report writing, record keeping issues dealing with policy and procedure, legal issues, field procedures, and proper care and handling of the police dog.

This five (5) day course is designed for the officer newly assigned to a SWAT/ tactical team. The course will provide the officer with a comprehensive introduction to tactical skills. Students will be introduced to basic SWAT topics, tactics, and techniques, including a historical overview of SWAT, team organization, structure, resolution of barricaded suspect situations, covert individual and team movement, searches and room clearing, chemical agents, less lethal options, DM/O operations, and high-risk warrant service. This course is a combination of classroom and hands-on exercises in which students practice tactics and techniques in the field.

This three (3) hour course will be devoted to the requirements for operating and maintaining a safe and secure detention facility, as set forth in Chapter 34 of the New Jersey Administrative Code. The “Cell Block Management” segment will review sound security practices and the minimum requirements for supervising detainees will be stressed. The "Suicide Awareness" segment will focus on such topics as the profiling of suicidal detainees, the screening and supervision of such detainees, the various ways in which detainees may attempt suicide, the liability factor and appropriate policy and procedures for handling suicide attempts.

This two (2) day course is designed to assist patrol officers and detectives in identifying child abuse and investigating such cases. This course will provide an overview of the Division of Youth and Family Services, the protocol for contacting the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Child Abuse Unit, how to interview a sexual assault victim, and investigating physical abuse cases. This course will also provide a brief refresher of the criminal statues involving child abuse allegations.

This is a one (1) day BASIC course designed to introduce the Law Enforcement Officer to the safe methods used to retrieve evidence during a search warrant or patrol stop. The primary focus of the course is to give the “street officer” the ability to recognize computers, diskettes, tapes and CD’s as evidence even if the crime is not directly related to computers initially. The course will teach computer seizure and will demonstrate the proper techniques used to “tag and bag”, the proper handling of the evidence following the seizure as well as basic hands-on forensic methods using machines developed for the program. Following the course, students will be able to recognize computer media as evidence in an array of crimes and will safely demonstrate the seizure of equipment. A basic knowledge of computers and operating systems is not necessary.
NOTE: Students are required to bring a copy of electronic media to class.

The student will be instructed and certified on the operation, use, policies and procedures (manufacturer and PTC) of the Taser X-2 or Taser 7 Conducted Energy Device. This one (1) day course is designed to assist the law enforcement officer in becoming a more confident and successful witness when testifying in court. It will address common problems that many officers have experienced and will offer solutions to overcome them. Students will receive comprehensive instruction and hands-on training on all areas of crime scene investigation. Topics covered include safeguarding and processing of the crime scene, sketching and photograph of the crime scene, collection of evidence and "lifting" of fingerprints, and cause and origin of fires. Students will participate in mock crime scene investigations.

This one (1) day course will assist law enforcement (Patrol Officers as well as Detectives) with training that will enhance their ability to recognize and identify the universe of identity-related documents issued by and relied upon by the MVC and the factors that motivate fraudsters. With emerging technology it has become increasingly difficult to identify fraudulent documents. Students will learn what tools are available to assist them in identifying counterfeit documents by providing “hands on” training and experience in the recognition of fraud as it pertains to documents such as: driver licenses, green cards, passports, birth certificates and social security cards. Participants will learn the newest trends in counterfeiting of drivers licenses by “on-line” manufacturers, which has becoming increasingly common due to the ease in obtaining access to technologies. This course will also review counterfeit as well as genuine NJ inspection stickers, temporary registrations and certificates of title. In addition, this class will review facial recognition technology as it is used by the Motor Vehicle Commission on all images captured as well as the process that is used with the submission of a photo for a “manual upload”.

This one (1) day course is designed to emphasize the critical importance of the need for police officers to change their mindset toward report writing. Two approaches to effective writing are examined in this course. The first and most important component is WHY, and the second is HOW. This is not a remedial English Composition class because we recognize that you are a professional police officer. The goal of the class is for you to utilize the training and education that you already have had, refine your approach to what has been perceived as a mundane task, develop new skills toward gathering information, and begin writing reports that allow the reader to see what you, the writer, has seen in a coherent, sequential, accurate and complete way.

This one (1) day course is designed to provide instruction on how to recognize and identify gang members and their insignia, ways to develop sources of information about gang activities within the community and through social media investigative techniques, strategies for suppressing gang activity and multi-jurisdiction approaches to gang investigations. Course topics may include Basic Gang Awareness: Recognition, Identification and Documentation, cultivation of gang member informants and interviewing gang members, gang suppression strategies and social media investigations.
NOTE: This class is designed primarily for sworn officers and analysts assigned to work with street gangs or for other law enforcement officers who encounter gangs on the street.

This two (2) day course of instruction will enable the detective, investigator or officer assigned this position, to differentiate between behavioral symptoms of both the truthful and deceptive person. They will understand the significance of verbal and non-verbal communication when dealing with victims, witnesses and suspects. Attendees will understand the importance of basic interrogation techniques, as well as advanced techniques. The course will also focus on identification of critical aspects of the interview process, Miranda concerns and practical solutions to legal questions that arise in the interview process.

Officers will acquire skills to implement the New Jersey Police Training Commission Physical Conditioning Program.
